BENFLEET CRICKET CLUB - OSCAR Pat Tremain

English Cricket Board  - ECB NatWest OSCA Winner 2006 Pat Tremain

On Monday October the 2nd 2006, Pat Tremain won an Outstanding Service to Cricket Award (OSCA) awarded by the ECB for 2006. This is across all the affiliated clubs to the ECB in England and Wales. There were seven categories that individuals could be nominated for, and Pat won in the category of Behind the Scenes, which was defined as someone invisible who your Club couldn’t do without! Up to yesterday, Pat was one of four shortlisted nominees in that category.

The ECB website at http://www.ecb.co.uk/news/media-releases/natwest-oscas-2006-winners,10285,EN.html, currently shows the following:” Behind the Scenes is awarded to a volunteer who is invisible, but vital. This year’s winner was Pat Tremain from Essex for her accomplishments within the club.

She raised £45,000 in grants for outdoor nets, an electronic scoreboard and sightscreens as well as negotiating a lease with the Council.

She attended courses and is now the Club Welfare and Child Protection Officer as well as the link to social members, council officers and other clubs.

The ECB would like to congratulate the winners and thank them for all their invaluable support and hard work over the past season.”

This was read out at the Awards ceremony:

Last Thursday Pat was at the top of a ladder painting over graffiti on the pavilion. So many things are done behind the scenes. In 2005/6 Pat was bar manager, ordering, stocktaking, serving and cleaning. She managed fund raising events e.g. Youth Sponsor Day and also raised £45,000 in grants for outdoor nets, an electronic scoreboard and sightscreens. She completed negotiations with the Council for a very favorable club lease after 5 years of patient discussion. She attended courses and is the Club Welfare and Child Protection Officer and was project manager on two NatWest Cricket Force events, including a QVC makeover and refurbishment of the changing rooms. She regularly attends local Sports Council meetings and is the link to social members, Council officers, and other clubs. She completed all the work for the Club SX award. A year very much like the last 12. She is also renown for the best teas in Essex. Pat is ABSOLUTELY IRREPLACEABLE

WE ALL SAY MANY MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO PAT
